EMERGENCY/ ASSESSMENT UNIT

The Emergency/Assessment Unit of the hospital is made up of the Medical, Nursing
Records, Accounts and Pharmacy Sections.
Patients coming to the hospital for the first time are assessed by the health team,
following registration and payment of necessary fees. The doctor on call in the unit
decides whether to offer out patient treatment or admission.
Health education/counselling ot patients and relatives, on the need to keep appointment
dates and comply with prescribed medications is done daily.
The Unit also assists in the training ot medical, nursing and other health professionals
on orientation posting to the hospital.
The Assessment/Emergency unit operates a 24-hour service daily including pub
public holidays.
