Brief History of the Department
The medical library is one of the oldest department in the hospital. A small mediaa
library was initially established in 1956. However, in August 1979, the World Heal
Organisation (W.H.O.) designated the Aro Hospital complex as a CollaboratingLentre
for Research and Training in Mental Health and Neurosciences. The need therefore
arose for a medical library of international standard to meet with the increased tempo
of academic activities in the hospital. Anew Library was completed and commissioned
in December, 1992.
