The Association was inaugurated in 196l during the Pan ATrican Psychiatric Conferene
The objectives of the Club include:
To help in fostering good relationship between the public and the psychiatric
hospitals.
To increase public awareness of mental health problems.
To disseminate information on available services for the treatment, rehabilitation
of persons who are mentally ill or handicapped.
To help in the resettlement into the community of patients who have been
discharged from Psychiatric Hospitals.
To promote in deserving cases and where the resources of the Club so allow
the welfare of orphaned children of deceased psychiatric patients.
To support research endeavours in Mental health (traditional methods inclusive)
To help the Psychiatric Hospitals in any practical way in the furtherance of
their objectives.
To discourage drug abuse e.g. Indian Hemnp.
lo carry out such other objectives that are connected with or similar to tho>
listed above.
To co-operate with other organizations with similar objectives.

Organisation of lectures/seminars and workshops
Fund raising and social activities.
Dissemination of information on various aspects of mental health.
