Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta Celebrates World Dietitians/Nutritionist Day

The Nutritionist and Dietetics team at Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro Abeokuta joined their global counterparts to celebrate World Dietitians/Nutritionist Day, themed “Food Connects Us.” The hospital’s nutrition department marked the occasion with a series of events, including an awareness trek around the hospital complex.
As part of the celebration, the nutrition team, led by Head of Department Mrs. O.F. Oladunni, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Provost and Medical Director. Although the Provost was unavailable, Mrs. K.T. Majolagbe, Head of Nursing, represented the Provost, while Dr. O.E. Majekodunmi, Head of Clinical Services, also attended.
In her remarks, Mrs. Majolagbe conveyed the Provost’s message, emphasizing the importance of consulting nutritionists before illness strikes. She also stressed the need to make food a priority in maintaining good health by eating balanced meals at the right time.
Dr. Majekodunmi commended the nutrition team for their efforts and encouraged them to conduct regular awareness campaigns on the significance of nutrition across all hospital departments, rather than limiting it to a single-day celebration.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a basket filled with a variety of fresh fruits to the Provost and Medical Director by the nutrition team. This symbolic gesture represented the team’s commitment to promoting healthy eating habits and wellness.

Other staff members in attendance included Mrs. T.O. Olomodosi, Mr. Raimi W.O., and Okunboye Temitope, all from the hospital’s nutrition department.
This celebration underscores the crucial role nutrition plays in maintaining overall well-being, and the hospital’s commitment to promoting healthy eating habits.
