DR PAUL AGBOOLA JOINS HIGH POWERED DELEGATION OF ASSOCIATION OF PSYCHIATRISTS IN NIGERIA (APN) TO VISIT HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE FOR FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF MENTAL HEALTH ACT

Dr Paul Agboola, the Provost and Medical Director of Neuro Psychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta on Tuesday 28th January, 2025 joined the leadership and the executive members of the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria ( APN) led by its President, Professor Taiwo James OBINDO to pay an implementation visit to Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare in Abuja.

The visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare was part of the efforts of the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria (APN) to ensure the full implementation of Mental Health Act, passed in year 2022 by the National Assembly and assented to by the former President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

Dr Salako, the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare in his remarks at the occasion promised the delegation that the Ministry will take steps to ensure the full implementation of the National Mental Health Act and also the establishment of the department of Mental Health in the Ministry of Health.
